India: New Self-Declaration Requirement Implemented for Pharmaceuticals & Medical Device Associations (d.d 30 June 2024)

On the 28th and 30th of May 2024, the Department of Pharmaceuticals of India released 2 Standing Orders regarding the new self-declaration requirement for pharmaceuticals and medical devices associations for fiscal year 2024/2025.


Through Circular No.01 / 2024: Self-Declaration for FY 2024-25 under the Uniform Code for Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices (UCPMP) 2024, stating that all pharmaceutical associations are obligated to comply with the requirement by submitting the self-declaration form by 30 June 2024.


Meanwhile, for medical device associations, Standing Order No. 31026/14/2024-MD states that the time limit for the Self-Declaration form submission has been extended to 30 June 2024. Both orders were issued to ensure associations have ample time to comply with the new requirement and abide by ethical marketing practices outlined in the UCPMP 2024.


Previously, the Department of Pharmaceuticals released the Uniform Code for Pharmaceuticals Marketing Practices (UCPMP) 2024 on the 12th of June 2024 which covers the medical representatives and relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and Continuing Medical Education (CME), communication code between pharmaceuticals companies and HCPs for research purposes, and brand reminders permissions.
